Zoo pictures

Checking out the chimpanzees.
Sofia really loved the aquarium and the manatees.
Check out that Rhino!
This was a very difficult picture to take. You can't see it, but I'm holding Sofia up at the same time I'm trying to stick her head in the hole.
I love this picture. Sofia walked right up to this little goat and put her head on its back.

Sick Little Girl

Poor Sofia has been so sick. Last night she had a temperature of 101 degrees and when he woke up this morning it was 102. I feel so bad for her. She's had a cough and a runny nose for a few days, but now with the fever she's even more worse off. The funny thing is, though, Sofia's still in a good mood. We read about six or seven books today. Also, Sofia sat on my lap and watched "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." Now, I'm not for little kids watching t.v., and I don't let the t.v. babysit her. Although, I am bad because I usually have the television on all day long. I don't even like most of the shows I have on, or I've seen them already. I'm trying to break that habit, at least for my own sake. Anyway, back to watching Charlie Brown. Sofia at on my lap, with her thumb in her mouth, and paid attention to the whole cartoon. It was actually kind of nice.

On a different not, this weekend I was a storyteller for a program we had at the library. Our library and local historical society held Ghost Tours and it was awesome! I never knew I could be a storyteller, but I must admit that I was awesome. (Hey, I'm allowed to brag every once in a while, right?)

Zoo Day

We had a great time at the Zoo today. The weather was perfect and Sofia was in a great mood. The one downside was the Zoo was really crowded because they were having their Halloween Boo at the Zoo. Other than that, I can't complain. Sofia really liked the aquarium and the goats in the petting zoo. As you will see in the picture, she really loved the goat. She did start getting cranky right before we went on the train ride, but I really can't blame her. We'd already been there for four hours by that point. Once we were on the train, she just sat and stared at everything as it went by. We get to go back to the Zoo in December for work's holiday party. It should be a blast. Plus, I can't wait until Mom gets us the season pass for Christmas (hint, hint) and then we can go all the time. I love the Zoo. I feel like I'm eight years old when I'm there. Unfortunately, this blog is not allowing me to upload pictures, so stay tuned. I will post them as soon as possible!

Toddler Tirade

Is 1 years old too early to hit the terrible twos? I know I'm overexaggerating, but I got a glimpse of the future today. Let me elaborate. Sofia can now turn the T.V. on and off. I don't really care too much because I watch too much T.V. as it is. Anyway, it does get annoying when she cranks it up to maximum volume. This is how today went. Sofia turned off the television, I took her hand and said no, and then plopped her butt away from the television, Sofia cried, and repeat. This went on for about fifteen cycles I kid you not. And oh the tears! You'd think I was denying her food or water instead of the power to turn off the television. I yi yi.

Sofia is an eating machine. She went to a party last night with Ryan and from what I heard, she was eating everything in sight. Pasta salad, bean salad, mushroom fondue, strawberries, chocolate mousse, bread. (If you couldn't tell, the host of the party was a chef.) I swear, anything you put in front of that girl, she eats. We're pretty lucky right now, but I keep waiting for the day that she starts to reject most food. As for now, we give her anything and everything and it seems to be working fine.
Sofia the pasta queen.

This was after the party and after she gorged herself on delicious food.

Slides are cool

Sofia loves the slide. We went to the mall today to play in the play area and Sofia just loved the slide. She no longer falls backward...which means less work for me. Then, once Ryan came home, we all went out to dinner at the Rusty Bucket. It was yummy. Sofia got to eat mac and cheese, mushrooms, cheerios and milk. A well-rounded dinner. The funniest part was Sofia flirting with one of the guys at the next table. She was so close to him that she kept reaching out and touching his arm and when he turned around she would smile. As soon as he turned back to his party, there went her little hand tap-tap-tapping on his arm. She's such a flirt. I'll have to keep her locked in the house until she's eighteen.

Italian Attitude

I love when I hear people say, "What a happy baby" or "What a cute baby" whenever we take Sofia places. It boosts my pride. This happened on Saturday when the three of us went to the Italian Festival. Wow, there are a lot of Italians and Italian wannabes (mostly the latter.) Ryan and I haven't missed a year yet. Last year Sofia was only about three weeks old when we went and I remember carrying her around in the little front baby carrier. She slept the whole time. It was really neat taking her this year. Especially when she decided that she wanted to go into the big tent and dance to the music. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Just picture it. A few hundred people sitting at table under a tent. There's a stage and a clear space in front for performers. Sofia walks out to the middle and starts swinging her arms to some Dean Martin. Then she starts bobbing up and down. People were laughing and getting the biggest kick out of her. I swear, Sofia is such a ham! I'm just glad I remembered to bring my camera for once. Unfortunately, the pictures just don't do the performance justice.

On another note. Sofia can kind of eat with a fork. I say kind of because I've only tried it once. But when I tried it on Saturday, she was doing a pretty good job. I put some green beans on her tray, gave her the fork and let her go to town. I had to do some of the work, but she actually got the hang of it. I cheered her on, which made her want to do it even more. She is one smart cookie!

Before...
After...

I'm sorry to everyone for not posting. I've been so busy with school and work that I just don't know what to do! Right now I have an assignment for one of my classes that is taking up all of my time, and I'm sure I'll fail it because I have no idea what I'm doing. Does anyone reading this know anything about metadata schemes?

Alright, enough whining. Onto Sofia. So, over the weekend of the 9/27 Sofia and I went down to Cincinnati because my mom flew in from Phoenix to celebrate Sofia's birthday and the birth of my niece Sydney. It was great seeing her and the whole family. I wish we could have stayed longer, two days was not enough. Sofia was great the whole weekend. She's such a good traveler, which is a good thing since both Ryan and my family are over two hours away.
Sofia and Grandma Colleen

Let's see, what else. Sofia has both top teeth growing in. She was miserable for a couple of days, and I had a feeling it was her teeth but I had no idea it was two at once. It's about time! I was wondering if she would ever get more teeth!

I wish I had more to say, but I'm just so tired. I promise I'll try to write more...and now, pictures!
